The grounds Battlestate Games relies on

Battlestate Games' Licence Agreement, in the version of 15 June 2026, sets out in clause 4.3.4 three groups of prohibited conduct. First, it prohibits cheats, bots and any software not permitted by Battlestate that changes the course of the game or makes it easier; second, trading virtual currency, game elements or accounts for real money, including paid levelling; and third, the exploitation of program defects. For any of these acts, Battlestate reserves the right to terminate access to the game for an unlimited time and without prior notification, and the game itself is protected by BattlEye.

The Rules of the Game, in the version of 27 February 2024, add a graded scale for breaches of the rules. Under clause 3.1, Battlestate may suspend an account for a short or a longer period or terminate it and cancel the licence, and clause 3.5 reserves termination for weighty reasons such as gross or repeated violations. Thus, the appeal has to answer the measure the notice names, since a time-limited suspension and the termination of the account rest on different findings.

Where the appeal goes

The Rules of the Game (checked on 26 October 2026) name the channel in clause 3.6: a player who considers the suspension or closure of the account an error writes to support@battlestategames.com. Battlestate's article on contacting support describes the same address as the channel for account access and security issues, whereas questions about payments and the account can also be raised through the support form on the official website after logging in.

It shall be noted that buying the game on Steam does not change the addressee. Battlestate's Steam FAQ states that playing through Steam requires a linked Battlestate Games account on which all progress is stored; hence, the ban concerns that account, and the decision lies with Battlestate rather than with Steam.

What the appeal should contain

The email should identify the account by its registered email address and in-game name, and state the game edition, the platform through which the game is launched, the date of the ban and the exact wording of the notice. Thereafter, it should set out what happened in the raid or trade concerned, which programs ran on the PC at the time, and whether anyone else knew the login details or used the PC.

The argument that someone else used the account, however, carries limited weight under Battlestate's rules. Clause 2.4.3 of the Rules makes the player liable for actions performed with the account, and clause 2.4.4 requires the player to report unauthorised use to support@battlestategames.com promptly. Moreover, clause 6.1.4 of the Licence Agreement releases Battlestate from any duty to present evidence of the breach. An appeal, therefore, should rest on verifiable facts of its own, e.g. receipts for purchases made through official channels or the date on which a takeover was reported.

After the decision

The Rules of the Game do not provide a second instance. A confirmed termination, in general, ends the licence, and clause 4.4.6 of the Licence Agreement adds that the player loses all virtual currency and game elements on a blocked account without compensation. A second email makes sense only with new facts, for example a security report that was not available when the first appeal was sent.

Ban evasion of any kind may breach Battlestate's terms; playing with another player's account, or with an account acquired from someone else, falls under clauses 4.2.8 and 4.2.9 of the Licence Agreement. Accordingly, this guide does not describe ways around a ban.

Current enforcement

Whether Battlestate is currently running a wider wave of bans is recorded on the ban-wave monitor of Game Ban Appeal, and the Escape from Tarkov appeal page sets out the steps of an appeal in short form.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Tarkov ban be appealed?

Yes. The Rules of the Game direct players who consider a suspension or closure of their account an error to support@battlestategames.com. Battlestate is not required to present the evidence behind the ban, so the appeal has to bring its own facts.

Is a Tarkov ban permanent?

Not every measure is. The Rules of the Game provide for short and longer suspensions as well as the termination of the account, while the Licence Agreement allows access to be terminated for an unlimited time for cheating, real-money trading and the exploitation of program defects.

Does Steam handle a ban on a Tarkov copy bought through Steam?

No. Playing through Steam requires a linked Battlestate Games account on which all progress is stored, so the ban concerns that account and the appeal goes to Battlestate Games.
