The grounds EA relies on
EA's rules for EA Sports FC (checked on 26 October 2026), to which EA's former FIFA rules page now redirects, allow a range of measures as a first-time action. They reach from removing Ultimate Team Coins and deleting the Club to a temporary or permanent ban from FC online play, a ban from all FC games or from some or all EA games, and a temporary console suspension from FC online modes. In Ultimate Team, several of these rules concern Coins. EA prohibits buying Coins from a third party and any Coin distribution, which in its words includes sending Coins to another player, even to a friend, and trading items well above or below their average price to move Coins.
Beyond Coins, the rules prohibit auto-buyers and other bots, Coin farming, promoting the sale or purchase of Coins, modified platforms, account sharing, false claims to EA staff, and cheating through external tools, exploits or match and matchmaking manipulation. EA's general article on bans and appeals distinguishes locks, which protect an account after suspicious activity, from suspensions, which expire, and from bans, which remove access for an extended period or permanently. Full EA account bans are, according to the same article, reserved for repeated or extreme violations.
Where the appeal goes
EA handles appeals through the Penalty History tool on EA Help. The player signs in with the EA account concerned, opens the violation under Your violations with Review and then selects Appeal. The tool shows the penalty type, the reason and the status of the appeal, and EA's moderation team re-evaluates the original action together with any additional information submitted.
It shall be noted that a block by PlayStation or Xbox is not EA's decision, and EA refers such cases to the platform's own support. EA also notes that some mobile titles are not connected to Penalty History and refers mobile players to a web form instead. EA may send penalty notices from ea@e.ea.com and sends decisions on appeals from noreply@ea.com, so messages from other senders that promise to lift a ban deserve caution.
What the appeal should contain
The appeal should identify the EA account, the platform, the date of the penalty and the violation shown in Penalty History, and then answer that violation. For a Coin case, it should list the Transfer Market trades in question with dates and prices and explain why each served to obtain an item for the Club, since EA treats trades made to move Coins between accounts as distribution. FC Points bought in the Ultimate Team Store, in the platform's store or from trusted retailers should be shown with receipts, as these are the purchase routes EA names.
For a cheating case, the appeal should name the hardware, the software running on the PC and any browser extension used with the Web or Companion App. EA's rules, in this regard, require an official game version on an unmodified platform and warn against third-party apps and extensions. Where the player did break a rule, a plain admission with the circumstances is preferable to a denial, since a false claim to EA staff is itself a breach of the FC rules.
After the decision
According to EA, an appeal may end with the penalty upheld, modified, e.g. by shortening a suspension, or removed where a mistake was made, and the decision arrives by email together with any further steps available. A second request makes sense only with new facts, given that EA asks players to contact it only with genuine challenges.
Under the EA User Agreement, EA may terminate all EA accounts of a player depending on the type of violation and may bar a terminated player from EA services. Using another account to play on during a ban may therefore breach the agreement. Accordingly, this guide does not describe ways around a ban.
Current enforcement
The EA Sports FC appeal page sets out the steps in short form, and reports of wider enforcement waves are recorded on the ban-wave monitor.
Frequently asked questions
Can an EA Sports FC ban be appealed?
Yes, where the penalty is eligible, through the Penalty History tool on EA Help. EA's moderation team re-evaluates the original action and may uphold, modify or remove the penalty.
Can buying FC Coins get an account banned?
Yes. EA's rules prohibit buying Coins from a third party, and the listed measures range from removing Coins and the Club to a temporary or permanent ban from FC online play. Coins cannot be bought at all, whereas FC Points may be bought through the Ultimate Team Store, the platform's store or trusted retailers.
Is an EA Sports FC ban the same as a PlayStation or Xbox ban?
No. A penalty set by EA is reviewed through EA's Penalty History, whereas a block by PlayStation or Xbox is the platform's decision, and EA refers such cases to PlayStation or Xbox support.
